Jan. 13, 2018 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
RI President Ian Riseley has asked each of the 1.2+ million Rotarian in the world to plant one tree this year in honor of Rotary's commitment to our world's environment. The Rotary Club of West U will be joining with the University Area and Bellaire Rotary clubs to do this at the Willow Waterhole Saturday morning, January 13, 2018 from 9:00 - 12:00. Later we will be sending out additional information so our club can plant 110 trees. Many of us will be planters, some of us organizers and administrators and others supporters who will assist with food and refreshments. We wish that 100% of our members can feel they have contributed to making this project happen. We may even have a prize for the team that plants the most trees. More details to come as they are worked out.

West U is the halfway point for the Houston Marathon and as the west bound runners cross Kirby they get a significant boost of adrenalin running down the US flag lined University Blvd. It looks terrific and is a great public image for West U RC. We need four teams, two going west, and two going east, with Buffalo Speedway the divider. If we have enough people we can get this done quickly. Let's start about 4 pm. We need trucks to pick up flags and stakes. Please register to help and Terry LeFebvre and I will organize. Thank YOU! Cecile Schutter 713.670.6357 |

Jan. 14, 2018 1:30 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.
The flags go up, and now they have to come down. We need at least four teams, two going westbound and two going eastbound with Buffalo Speedway as the boundary. Please come out to University Blvd, start pulling and rolling flags. Pile the stakes in bunches. If you have a truck, please find a place to start and start loading up. The more helpers we have, the faster everyone is done. We all want to be done before the football game! (or whatever game is playing!) Please sign up and Terry LeFebvre and I will get you organized. |
