Ruben Perez is a Harris County Assistant District Attorney where he serves as the Special Crimes Bureau Chief.  He received his Bachelor of Science Degree from Southwest Texas State University in 1974.  In 1978 he studied International Law at the London School of Economics.  He graduated from the Thurgood Marshall School of Law in 1980.  He has served as a City of Houston Assistant Attorney (1980-1981), a Harris County Assistant District Attorney (1981-1992), and an Assistant United States Attorney (1992-2017).  In 2017 he returned to the Harris County District Attorney’s Office as Special Crimes Bureau Chief.  On a final note, he is a member of the Tejano Music Hall of Fame.
