Donation of custom made boots will result in 30,000 Polio vaccinations!
As part of the club's Pints for Polio efforts, Alvaro "Al" Rivera of Al's Handmade Boots generously stepped up to help. This Houston boot maker donated a pair of custom made boots. The donation resulted in a  winning bid of $3,640. That amount will be matched 6:1 by the Bill and Melinda gates Foundation as part of Rotary's efforts to eradicate Polio worldwide. The $21,840 resulting amount will lead to some 30,000 Polio vaccinations in endemic countries.
