The District Conference begins this Thursday in New Orleans. While there will be dinners, parties, cooking demonstrations, and the Saturday night Masquerade Ball, there will be a terrific service project to benefit the Ellis Marsalis Center for Music located in the center of Habitat for Humanity’s “Musician’s Village” in the Upper Ninth Ward of New Orleans. An old guitar has been turned into a work of art by Martha Cancelmo, wife of West U Rotarian Dick Cancelmo to be auctioned off at the district conference to help fund this service project. This work of art started as the old guitar District Governor Lisa Faith Massey left with us when she made her official visit. She left it with the instructions to turn it into a jewel for auction at the District Conference. We know this beautiful piece will surely bring a great price.
