To commemorate W U Rotary's 21st birthday on Thursday, January 21, 2016, Rotarians, spouses, partners, kids, and friends are invited to meet for dinner and an exclusive docent-led tour of the Museum of Fine Art's current exhibition on Mark Rothko.

Even if you're unfamiliar with, or just don't "get" Rothko, this tour will enable you to gain appreciation for his work. We also think you will enjoy fun and fellowship with fellow Rotarians. People are often intimidated by Rothko's work. It's not very representational. The current exhibit has some of Rothko's earlier works so that we can see him evolve as a painter. Rothko deliberately did not title his works. They are intended to be meditations that may evoke different feelings. Our docent will give us insight into the theory behind his work and techniques.

Attendance is limited to 20. This special guided Rotary tour costs only a dollar more than regular adult admission.

Meet us at Cafe Express in the museum at 5:30 pm for a bite to eat or drink. Our tour begins at 7:00 pm. Visit http://www.mfah.org/exhibitions/mark-rothko-retrospective/ for more information on this exhibit. Please RSVP and pay $24 per person to the club treasurer by our January 14th meeting. Email honey@honeyleveen.com or call 713-988-4671 with questions.
